So Didja Miss Me?

Well, I had a really rough month, and wasn’t able to get on here at all.  It’s Halloween night, and I really should be enjoying the trick-or-treaters, but instead I’m feeling guilty that I haven’t been on here to post.

I think most of my problem has been the focus of this blog.  With everything happening in my life right now (you REALLY don’t want to know) I simply don’t have the time to read the books and post the in-depth reviews I’m famous *choke, gasp* for.  (Hey, it’s my delusion - don’t pop it!)

So I hereby declare that my focus of this blog is changing.  I am extending the focus to include not only the books that I read, but the funny patrons that I encounter, and the great (and not-so-great things) that happen at the library.  Considering that I work in a library in a smaller town, it’s rather amazing the wild things that go on there. ;-)

Like the other day, when I was standing at the front counter, minding my own business, and a dog comes running through the front door.  Excited to be there, excited to see everyone, he ran around the library, dodging grasping hands and yelling people, having the time of his life.  He was finally caught because someone got the great idea to try to pet his belly, which as any dog owner will tell you, will instantly cause the dog to flop onto its back in order to really enjoy this treat.

Lying on its back, the dog was easily caught, and using the dog tags that the owners had so thoughtfully put on the dog, we were able to reach the owners to have them come pick him up.  They laughed when we called them, and came within minutes.  Apparently, this is not the first time their dog has done a Houdini.

Just the day before the dog came and visited, we had a cat come by.  She tried to sneak into the building as I was bringing books through the back door, and tried to nominate herself as the new mascot of the library.  I felt bad that no one took her seriously, and that we had to send her on her way.

Never let it be said that a library is boring…

Well, it feels great to be back, and I hope y’all will enjoy the new posts, and the new focus of my blog.  I promise to continue posting the occasional reviews - I haven’t completely stopped reading books.  I am a librarian, after all…
